National award for Infinitas brings opportunities for women in the industry
An exciting night at the National ACR and Heat Pump Awards saw our Managing Director and chair of the Ground Source Heat Pump Association, Laura Bishop, win the Woman of the Year award.
The award ceremony, which is run by leading industry publications ACR Journal and Heat Pumps Today, celebrates those that go above and beyond in the industry as well as products which are leading the way in providing sustainable, innovative solutions.
More than 400 industry figures, including leading manufacturers such as Mitsubishi and Toshiba, attended the esteemed award ceremony at The Queens Hotel in Leeds.
Regarding the award, Laura said it was an honour to be recognised and hopes more women will be inspired to follow a career in heat pump technology.
“As an industry, we have come so far in helping reduce businesses and households’ carbon footprint with ground-breaking technological solutions. I am passionate about the benefits heat pumps bring, and to be chosen as this year’s Woman of the Year was an absolute honour. It certainly wasn’t expected, and I am grateful to those who nominated me in recognition of my passion for the industry. It is important that we continue to question, explore and develop methods which will continue to progress the industry, and women’s role in that, for many years to come.”

Laura is a chartered mechanical engineer with over 22 years of engineering experience working with blue-chip companies, including Rolls Royce and E.O.N.
As the chair of the Ground Source Heat Pump Association (GSHPA), she supports trade association members in advocating the value of sustainable heat pumps in meeting heating and cooling needs.
The leading UK professional body dedicated to the industry, the GSHPA engage with Government and key decision-makers to support cost-effective and efficient solutions for businesses and households.
Laura is also a Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Heat Network consultant and District Heating Diva, which helps to encourage growth in the industry.
Fellow female engineer, Gemma Weston of J&E Hall, was awarded the ACR Trainee of the Year.
“It is important that role models like Gemma are recognised to help inspire more young women into the industry. For those who enjoy maths and science, supporting the next generation of sustainable energy solutions is very rewarding. I hope that awards like this continue to shine the spotlight on more female role models in the industry.”
